The League of Gentlemen started life on the London Fringe with a sketch-show first performed at the Cockpit Theatre in 1995. They then secured a weekly residency at the Canal Café Theatre, which led to their first visit to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1996. Here they were quickly signed up by the BBC to record a radio series with a view to future TV work. They returned to Edinburgh with a new show in 1997, scooping the Perrier Award for Comedy.Their Radio 4 series, On the Town with the League of Gentlemen aired in 1997, winning the Sony Silver Award and subsequently a Talkie Award for Best Audio Comedy.The Leagues first television series, simply called The League of Gentlemen, was filmed in 1998 and transmitted on BBC2 in January 1999. The programme went on to win both the prestigious Golden Rose of Montreux and the RTS award for 'best entertainment' 1999. The second series of The League of Gentlemen aired in January 2000,On the 30th october the League of gentlemen kicked of the first leg of their tour. The christmas special,yule never leave, was shown on 27th December 2000 it was a fantasic yet slightly scary episode.In March the League start a second leg of their tour and The start of their first london shows in drury lane theatre. If you are going on the 30th and 31st of March I hope you are willing to be on the tour video as the League of Gentlemen are recording those days for Video realese.The League start work hopefully on the third series around April and the third series should be screened around December 2001 or January 2002 and rumour has they will be doing another Christmas special. Mark and Reece have been asked to in `Spaced 2` Mark made his appearance on February 23rd 2001 and Reece wiil either appear on the 2nd or 3rd episode of the series.
